ABOUT US

SHORT HISTRY

SSRI was originally established as an accessory research center of Japan Veterans EAssociation in 2006 and left from it as an independent research institute in July 2015. SSRI is presently a non-profit and independent organization.
SSRI registered as a general legal person in July 2019 and started research on security and strategy issues. SSRI has impact when our research helps to inform the decision-making of key policymakers. We work toward a vision of a safer and more prosperous Japan.

MISSION STATEMENT

Objectives of SSRI are to contribute for defining future national security strategy and strengthening defense capability through research and study on military issues, security environments et seq.

ACTIVITIES

SSRI is consisted of President, Advisors, Senior research fellows, Guest research fellows, Abroad research fellows and Office staffs. Members of SSRI are engaging activities such as research study project, promotion of outcome project, upbringing human resources and others.

SEMINAR ACTIVITIES

 1. Japan Taiwan Strategic Dialogue
  Based on MOU in 2019 between Taiwan Strategic Research Association, JSTD is held twice a year in Japan and Taiwan.
 2. Regular Open Security Seminar
  Research fellows of SSRI deliver their research outcomes to the public twice a year.
 3. Regular Monthly Meeting
  A guest specialist provides current topics to research fellows of SSRI for stimulating participant enlightenment.
 4. Ad hoc Study Meeting
  Research fellow of SSRI provides their research outcome for improving participant research.

EDUCATION

Supporting to students of Advance General Staff Course of Army Staff College for making strategy thesis and providing lectures to Staff Colleges of Japan Self-Defense Forces.
